Ramona. Oil on panel, 2023.

This tiny A5 painting depicts my fellow artist Ramona, sporting a temporary spider tattoo on her way to a mutual friend’s birthday party in Wales.

The painting was shown in the 2024 Royal Society of Portrait Painters exhibition at the Mall Galleries in London. William Feaver, art critic and biographer of Lucian Freud, subsequently selected it for his show ‘Reassorted’, also at the Mall Galleries.

The painting of Ramona forms part of an ongoing series of close-cropped portraits on A5 panels, many of which were commissions. See slide 3 for further examples.
