Christy. Oil on panel, 2020.

Christy is a model who sat for me at New England House in Brighton in 2020. I made three paintings of him.

In early 2020 I broke my shoulder at home after experiencing some seizures in my flat. I think the first painting in this slideshow was an attempt, through Christy, to somehow visualise and probe a bodily experience which was highly traumatic, but of which I have absolutely no memory.

This painting was exhibited at the 2022 Contemporary British Portrait Painters exhibition in London.
